Toys Glorious Toys

Year 1 have fully immersed themselves in our Topic Toys. In our History lessons we will be looking at toys throughout history. How toys have changed over time and how they have evolved and developed. We have started with bringing in our own toys (living memory).

We also made and wrote instructions on how to make ‘Forky’ from ‘Toy Story’ in our English lessons. In our Geography lesson Children explored “our school” – showing their toy around.

Well Done Year 1 we are proud of you. Keep Going for Gold!

The latest Year 2 Learning Update!

Year 2 Kick Off the Academic Year with Enthusiasm and Exploration

Our Year 2 children have started the academic year on a strong and exciting note, diving into engaging lessons across a variety of subjects.
In history, we have been learning about the remarkable explorer Mary Kingsley. The children participated in a fun and interactive “hot-seating” activity, where they took on the role of Mary Kingsley herself, answering questions in character and deepening their understanding of her adventurous life.
In literacy, we’ve been reading the inspiring story Amazing Grace, which has sparked discussions about the moral of the story. The children have been working on writing activities that not only support the text but also reflect on its important messages of perseverance and self-belief.
In geography, we have been exploring the continents and oceans of the world, broadening our understanding of the planet and developing key geographical skills.
In maths, the focus has been on strengthening our place value skills. Through a variety of hands-on activities and exercises, the children have shown great progress in their understanding of this foundational concept.
Our science lessons have been equally exciting, as we continue to build on our knowledge of healthy eating and nutrition. We’ve also been learning about Charlotte Armah, a renowned researcher in nutrition, helping us make connections between science and everyday life.
It’s been a fantastic start to the year, and we are looking forward to continuing this journey of learning and discovery with our Year 2 students!
