Family Link Worker

As Jessop’s family Link Worker I’m here to offer support, nurture and encouragement to children and their families, parents and carers to help improve communications between families and school.

I help children and their families who are experiencing changes and offer support on a wide range of issues that may be impacting on family life such as bereavement or parental separation or issues are impacting on family and school life..

I provide emotional and practical help and advice to our families who are experiencing long- or short-term difficulties. The aim is to alleviate some of the worries and challenges and work together to minimise these. I help families and children to access services, resources, local community information and support. I offer individual guidance and parenting support.I can also help with completing benefits forms and other official paperwork.

Communication between home and school on important issues is paramount and ensures pupils are able to concentrate on their learning more easily.

I support and promote positive behaviour, enable children and parents to discuss concerns or worries in a safe and secure way. I work with individual children in a flexible way to best support them and their families, to help children grow in confidence and to enable them to enjoy participating in life at school and beyond. I work closely with teachers offering advice and guidance as to how best to support pupils.

I listen in a non-judgemental environment and offer support and solutions I support children to get the best out of their time at Jessop.

I work with children who are withdrawn, anxious or have friendship issues . Parents/ carers who are finding managing the child’s behaviour difficult. I am a mental health first aider and share my expertise with the school in how best to support our learners.

I aim to ensure all children enjoy school and are happy and secure and that our families feel supported.
